Jumping of Monaco: a unique stage in equestrian competition!

It is one of the most prestigious and glamorous sporting events on the planet and also one of the most challenging equestrian competitions. The Jumping International of Monaco, scheduled each year at the beginning of the summer, is a three-day high-stakes show jumping competition for the world's best riders. Jumping of Monaco: a unique stage in equestrian competition!

One of the most beautiful equestrian competitions on the world show jumping circuit, the Jumping International of Monaco has captivated the public since its creation in 2006.

This stage of the Longines Global Champion Tour, set up by president Diane Fissore and former Olympic champion Jan Tops, is certainly the most unusual of the international tour.

Indeed, the development of the equestrian stadium on Port Hercule requires colossal work by the Monegasque teams to transform the Quai Albert 1er into stables.

Tons of sand were needed to create the star track that would welcome the champions for three days. Another rare and funny image: the horses are housed on the port and two hooves away from the yachts.

The other particularity of this event lies in the difficulty of the races. Like the Formula 1 Grand Prix, the narrow and winding tracks require perfect control to avoid penalties and try to win the trophy.

The Jumping International de Monte-Carlo programme

3 events can be admired from the top of the stands during the Jumping of Monaco. More than 80 riders will take to the sandy track for courses combining speed and jumping in the CSI 2 and 5 categories.

The Longines Global Champion Tour

This international show jumping competition brings together the 30 best riders in the Longines world rankings on the world's largest courses. These prestigious competitions, where the top 18 riders share a bonus of approximately 1 million euros, are considered the most important in international equestrian sport. Classified as CSI 5, the highest level of difficulty, the Longines Champion Global Tour consists of 17 rounds in the world's most prestigious cities, from New York to Dubai, via Prague and Rome.

On the French Riviera, 3 destinations host these events of panache: Ramatuelle/Saint-Tropez, Cannes and Monaco.

The Global Champion League

This 2-day show jumping event, classified as CSI 2, features team competitions. The riders of each team compete against each other and one of them must be under 25 years old. Several phases await them, such as the time trial or the jumping with jump-off.

Pro-Am Cup, the Monegasque competition

This equestrian meeting between top level riders and amateurs was created in 2010. Sponsored by Charlotte Casiraghi, the Principality's star rider, the Pro-Am Cup is a relay event unique in the world where experts and young riders compete against each other in a grandiose time trial. It usually takes place on the 2nd evening of the Jumping of Monaco.

On the sidelines of the Jumping International

Between two events in the most prestigious arenas in show jumping, the Jumping International of Monte Carlo is an opportunity to meet the greatest competitors in the discipline. In addition to the thrilling spectacle offered by this championship, near the training paddock, you can admire the most beautiful horses in the world and stroll through the village where numerous shops are set up.

In the vicinity of this unmissable equestrian event, numerous attractions await you to enjoy the mythical art of living in Monaco. Between starred restaurants, luxury boutiques and the world's most famous casino, Monaco's activities have contributed to the Rock's reputation.

To stay in Monaco during the Jumping, several options are available to you, such as staying in one of the Principality's palaces or renting a flat with a sea view in the Condamine district or in Monte Carlo to be as close as possible to the show and have stars in your eyes.

The next Jumping dates

After a 2022 edition which ended in apotheosis with the consecration of the Austrian Max Kühner during his victory on Saturday 1st July, the Jumping international of Monte Carlo 2023 promises new axes of improvement and a breathtaking competition. The quality of the show offered this year, the new facilities including the track next to the boxes have seduced spectators and competitors alike. See you in the summer of 2023 for an even more magical edition!
